Pattern Block Help!

Hi, i am going to make my own trouser block, however i need to make one that takes into account that i have larger than average thighs and knees! I have looked on you tube and it seems they all just account for slimmer legged ladies which i am not! Would i be best in making one i can find for straight legs and making an adjustment or does anybody know who on you tube i can follow that would cater for my needs pls? Thank you x

Such a good question! I too have larger thighs and knees so would be very interested to hear if anyone has any suggestions?

One of our members in the socials saved up for a 1:1 12 hour trouser fitting workshop which she had a really positive experience with. It was split over two days and I think she now has her own block and was shown how to use it with patterns too.

Minerva have lots of pattern drafting tutorials on their YouTube channel, including several for trousers. I think this is the first in the series:

They cover different leg styles and also how to make adjustments for body shape, including larger thighs. I have struggled with fitting trouser patterns in the past so I have these on my "watch later" list.

Hi

There is an extremely good book called Metric Pattern Cutting by Winifred Aldrych and I totally recommend that. A good trouser block will account for the size of your thigh and knees in the measurements you will take.

Good luck

That is the book I used on my C&G pattern cutting course and I've used it a lot.
