Hayley is an entrepeneurial sewing thrend setter. Like with her subscription boxes 9 years ago, Hayley has once more recognized a growing need that wasn't adequately being met in our Sewing Community; isoation. We all know our hobby can be solitary and sometimes a bit lonely. More so now than ever as many local towns, cities and fabric shops in the US and the UK are either closing or no longer provide in-person sewing socials. It's hard finding like-minded people in our own part of the world sometimes. So Hayley has gone global in reaching out.
This is where Hayley's new virtual platform, Thready Set Go, starts to shine and to bring us together. Most likely, I will never meet these women in real life, but after just a few sessions, we're becoming friends. I really look forward to seeing familiar faces each week and happy when new ones join in. I love that we're getting comfortable enough with each other to open up and share about our sewing journeys and so much more. Having breakout groups after our initial greeting, keeps them more intimate and we can share as much or as little as we like. I've met some absolutely wonderful, funny, positive, encouraging and oh so talented women. So a huge Thank you to Hayley for opening up my little sewing room to so many new friends.

Fresh off participating in another virual sewing social, I just want to express how much I enjoy being a part of this community. As a US-based garment sewing enthusiast, I have struggled to find and connect with others who share my sewing obsession.
I have been very envious of the UK sewing community I see on social media and have often wished I could be a part of something similar ... and then, ThreadySetGo to the rescue! It is so wonderful to spend two lovely hours chatting and laughing with folks who love the same thing I do. Sewing can often be quite solitary and having the opportunity to actually connect with others has added such a new and fun dimension to one of my favorite things.
Thank you so much, Hayley - these sewing socials are a real gift! I can't wait for the next one.

2 days agoJust check the shoulder seams. I found I needed to take half an inch off both sides to get it to fit. I only found this out after I had sewn the sleeves in. One redone and the other tomorrow. But it is a learning curve and I now have a pattern that has the correct width shoulder seam that I can use for reference for future blazer patterns.

I really love the forum and the socials. I'm autistic and struggle with talking to people, so going to in-person events has always been quite daunting and I've made up excuses not to go. The fact these socials are online makes it feel safer; I admit the first one, I assumed I'd just shut my laptop after 5 mins but ended up staying the whole 2 hours! Everyone is friendly, happy to give advice on a stage you're struggling with or just chat about the weather, fabric recommendations, pattern suggestions, and there are always dogs about!
Sewing can be quite a lonely hobby, it's not something any of my friends do, so having somewhere that I can talk to other like-minded people, but from the comfort of my own home, is a real help and has made me a better sewer.

Just started mine at the social tonight. A LOT of darts and markings to do - that took me two hours on it's own. But it's going to be a great sew with lots of new skills!
