Hi Nolwenn, It took me years to begin sewing because I thought you had to wear what you sew or not sew at all. I'd wanted to learn dressmaking my entire life, not to create my own wardrobe, but because I've always been irresistibly drawn to...

This happens a lot - I for instance, might make a special meal for friends, then I don't want to eat it! I think when you are so close to something you have made, you see all the faults and can't see the whole. I agree with Hayley that it is...

I can relate to this too. It's quite common that I will be very excited and sew up a new garment but then when it's finished I don't like it and it goes in the wardrobe. Usually after a few months I'll pull it out again and start to like it. I have a...

I am loving the Tullie shorts pattern by cinnamon daisy. I made a wearable toile in a light striped denim, playing with direction and I am living in them.

It’s been a warm one here in the northern hemisphere! What has been your standout pattern of the summer? Either a new one this year or a previous make that you’re still wearing lots this season?

Most of them seem to be polyester. I'll try the pulling trick. Most of the zips are okay. I think one was difficult to pull open. Might need to oil it. Not sure. Thank you for responding :)

Do you know what type the thread is? if it's polyester then it can last over 50 years - if you pull it and just pulls apart then it's no good for anything other than basting or tailors tacks like Ariane said. If it snaps then it should be ok. As...

I would suggest Poundfabrics.co.uk as well. They give information on the fabric and I have had some good buys from them. I too think cotton jersey would be a good one to start with - some of the other stuff can be slippery and slinky.
