As soon as I saw this pattern come out , I wanted it.  I've not sewn many collars and cuffs but wanted to give them another try I absolutely love this shirt and have already picked more fabric from my stash for a second one

Finally finished and pictures taken, would have preferred to get daylight photos but I think these have captured the colours in the fabric. A gorgeous viscose twill from The Fabric Obsession box. Pleased with how it turned out but still need to tweak...

My few days off work are coming to a close but I've finished 2 knit garments. The colourful Lenny dress is a Seameork pattern and incredibly straightforward provided you read the pattern properly and use the correct seam allowance. I graded the...

Sanda Jacket Inseam Pockets

Well, if you want somewhere to put your hands, and are willing to play around a bit, I would try repositioning the pockets slightly, and put a slant on them on the outer side, so you can stuff your hands in them. Again, easy to try with a bit of...

Thanks you two! This gives me a few things to think through. The awkward location is a great point. I find I just need a place to put my hands and patch pockets are a whole different kind of awkward for that. Ha! Maybe I'll consider lengthening the...

This is beautiful! My first thought is that adding in-seam to a hip length might be awkward. Although I don't know this particular pattern, I think that all you would have to do is move the seam pocket markings up to where you want them - but you...

Oooh sounds lovely!!  There isn't a lot of room for patch pockets on the cropped jacket, you'd need to have the opening quite high up to avoid the base of the pocket from peeking out below the hem. It's definitely doable though - lay the pocket...

I'm getting started on my Sanda Jacket from Merchant and Mills. The hip-length jacket view has front patch pockets whereas the knee-length coat view has inseam pockets. I want all the pockets! Does anyone have advice for me to add the coat view...

A huge thank you to Mike at Babylock. He spent 2 hours with me at Babylock HQ, showing me the machine and allowing me time to try out all my 'badly behaved' fabrics, overlocking, hemming, adding lace & elastic etc. etc. I did decide on the...

Can you wear it a little in it's current form to see how you feel about the length?  That should let you know if it's awkward.

Hi Kirsty, really lovely to have you here - fellow Hampshire girl!  Sorry to hear your Dad has been so unwell, but great to hear things are ok at the moment and you have some time to discover more sewing fun!  Are you sewing anything at the moment?

Hi Hayley and the Thready set go community, I'm Kirsty and I live in Hampshire with my husband, my kids have fledged/fledging.  I've sewed on/off since I was little, originally taught by my mum who made all her clothes. I've been a more active sewer...

Hi Melissa, there are no silly questions!  You wouldn't normally topstitch a French seam. I have included videos on how to French seam in the Poppy tutorials. Once you've finished the seam all you need to do is press it to one side and that's it

Hello all.  I would like to try the French seems suggested on the skirt of the Poppy.  As an overlocked obsessed sewist this will be new to me so apologies if this is a silly query.  Once the seam is finished does one top stitch the seam to one...
