Lengthen first and grade afterwards would be my advice. When you have graded the front and back put the two pattern pieces together to make sure they follow the same line. Just adapt any inconsistencies to make a smooth line.

Advice Needed- Grading Sizes

Hi Amy, You would do exactly the same on the back - draw a line connecting the size 12 at the bust to a 14 at the waist - it will still be going inwards as you're only blending between the two sizes so won't alter the shape. Personally I would...

Thank you Adele, the red linen was my second attempt the first one was a blue viscose slightly too big so I had to take it in on the princess seams but fits lovely now. Your teal polka dot will look beautiful

I just went for it at first so just made everything up and hoped for the best. Now that I’m looking to make from higher quality fabrics, I’m making toiles now. I wouldn’t bother for a hoodie or something stretchy as i don’t think the fit is that...

Yes, I agree I'm much more accurate with scissors. But for lots of square/rectangle pieces a rotary cutter can be great

Another idea to stop the zip shifting is to use 1/4" quilters tape. That is sticky both sides so you can place your zip and rearrange so it is correct. The tape washes out.

Scissors. Mostly because my rotary cutting mat is much smaller than my cutting table. I'd have to most and readjust a lot to use it. When I do redo the cutting table I may cover it with a rotary cutting mat.

I use a twin needle on my tee shirts, I use heat and bond soft stretch to turn the hem up, its an iron on interfacing and works a treat and also gives the hem a bit of body for the twin needle to give a nice neat finish
