Hi Laura. Thank you for sharing your sewing journey with us. I think Annie and Hayley have provided great advice on next steps. When I find myself in similar scenarios I have a snack and a coffee and start cutting 🤪. I agree an approach could be...

I'd be glad of advice & shared experience. My 16 year old Janome overlocker works beautifully. However, increasing arthritis in my ankles particularly is making it very difficult for me to control the speed reliably. I am now using it for longer...

Well, I used some cheap jersey from my stash to make this, and I am, on the whole very pleased - it was just what I was looking for - thank you Hayley. But I do need to ask how you finish the neckband? I followed the instructions, but didn't use...

You can buy bias binding makers. This link is to Amazon as it shows the cheap set which I have (bought at a show). Other sites like sew essential have rather better quality individual makers.

I had some denim left over when I made a pair of jeans in 2023. I used it to make a self-drafted. I embroidered the pockets using my embroidery machine.

Most likely this will be a bias binding made from the makers choice of fabric. You can get bias binding in the shops but most commonly is polyester or satin. But you can make your own from any fabric by cutting strips on the bias - which is...

Hi I was wondering if someone could help with advice for a beginner. For the blanket in the photos the main fabric is polyester, then it has a soft material sewed onto the edge. As a complete beginner how would I make a blanket like this? I...

The pattern emporium all in easy fit shirt has the best instructions for sewing up a button up skirt. The collar goes in so beautifully.

I started this during yesterdays chat and finished it late last night. My granddaughter is named Aurora from sleeping beauty. I felt this pattern and fabric gave it those vibes.

I've had similar problems with a cable knit. In the end I overlocked the inner neckband edge in a single layer then stitched in the ditch without folding over the seam allowance to reduce the thickness. Pleased with the outcome, eventually!

Oh no Han!!! I'm so sorry you've run into trouble - the cable knits can be really thick and when sewing through multiple layers it's tricky! Perhaps a contrast neckband in some ribbing could work as an alternative?
