I'm looking into buying my first Overlocker possibly Coverstitch. I'm wondering which one is the most preferred and why?

Also which company is best to buy from and why, I mostly work on clothing...so I'd like one of these machines, just wondering which one I'd get the most use out of. Thanks for your input and help.

I'm seeeeew excited to be a part of this community. Thank you Haley for coming up with this idea.

Hi Yolanda, You're so welcome, I'm really pleased you like it!

I can't speak about coverstitch as I've not ever used one. But I love my Janome overlocker which is a 6234XL.

Hi Hayley! I definitely know that feeling! But on Monday 23rd I realised that I needed a present for a family friend so I threw together a makeup/toilet bag out of some beach hut Liberty print that I had lying around! Job done!

And yes, you're quite right about the leaving-the-sewing-machine-out tip; I can't really leave it out but I do leave the power cable plugged in (and pedal) ready but tucked away. I don't have a dedicated sewing area so all of my sewing kit/stash/gadgets are hidden in various cupboards and I have to do a fair bit of searching before I can start 😩But now is the time for new resolutions 🎉!!

Oh no! Perhaps your first resolution could be to create a dedicated cupboard for your sewing things?

Haley, I also love my French Curve ruler it is so awesome and helpful. I also love my wonder clips! They are so helpful and easy to pop on and off.

I struggle to get on with wonder clips, although I can see them being really useful for thicker fabrics!

I've not yet made any garments despite having many patterns and fabric ready to go. I do make bags and I wouldn't be without my quilting rulers, cutting mat & roller cutter, which I class as one tool 😀

Hehe, they are great tools! What's holding you back from having a go at sewing a garment?

My family and friends know me too well. New fabric pinking shears and rotary cutter with fabric only tags. The Fleur pattern from Fabric Godmother. Gutterman threads and vouchers. Really happy.

Ooh that's a great haul!

My daughter gave me this thread holder as I was forever digging around in my sewing box for a spool. Took me ages to hammer in the dowels though! So this afternoon I shall be loading it and at long last having tidy threads!

My daughter is here until 5th January, relieving me of puppy duties ( he is living with us temporarily and rather unexpectedly). My aim is to sew as much as I possibly can from Saturday until then.

Hoping to start with a Nepheline blouse.

Ooh that looks beautiful! Good luck on your mission!

Hello everyone!

I am Susanne and I am living in the Netherlands with my husband and two daughters (3 and 6 yr) who's hands are faster than the speed of light to grab the sweet treat as soon as I open the monthly box.

Looking forward being inspired from all the makes of you fellow sewists. And also hopefully get to know some Dutch-Sew-Hayley-Jane-Subcribers for possible future fabric swaps :)

Congrats and thanks Hayley for the hard work creating this space!
