I can definitely recommend a wide leg pull on trouser - I often find bagging around my tummy but the Chanterelle pants from Sew Liberated are the perfect fit! They are quite wide but you could definitely reduce that width!

Thank you Hayley. On the whole the instructions are ok but some of the instructions leave a lot to be desired! There is also a blog post with photos but that is a bit vague in places. The also have a short video on the vent, which is quite useful....

These look fantastic Diane! Shame your machine struggled with topstitching thread, did you keep your universal needle or swap to a denim? I think you can get topstitching needles too which have a bigger hole for the thicker thread.

Yes, that was the toile in the check fabric I showed at the social. The main fabric on this one is 100% wool from Fabworks. It was a special offer with the lining free. Better image of the main fabric.

Yes they are. The instructions said to hand stitch. I'm sure there might be a way to machine stitch, but I love hand stitching so I was happy to relax and enjoy finishing the sleeve by hand.

Hi Laura - The final tier pattern piece is 40cm and is cut 4 times - so 160cm less fabric. I'm not sure how tall you are - I'm 5'7" and found it finished above my knee so I added a little extra ruffle on which took it below my knee.

Hayley, if I didn't want to make the full length version of the Nicks dress and instead make a dress that ends at the knee (I see you did the same) how much fabric would you allow for not adding the bottom tier please?  TIA xx

Thank you! These are actually made with worsted weight acrylic yarn. I do have and use 8/2 and 8/4 yarns/ threads on some projects like washcloths, though.

Sounds like a great show! If I could, I'd watch just to see the items and here the stories that go with them. I wouldn't even care about the restoration, maybe. Okay, that's a lie. The whole thing sounds cool.
